Welcome back to my blog! I hope you are having a lovely week. I have been trying out the brand new Blending Brushes from Stampin' Up!®. They will be released in the January to June 2021 mini catalogue but if you join my team, you will be able to order these products from December 1st 2020.
The brushes are AMAZING!! They come in packs of 3, and are so soft and easy to use. I have used various blending tools before including make up brushes, but these are so much better. They are made of densely packed fine bristles, with no stray bristles falling off when you are blending. I plan on getting one for each colour family to keep them cleaner and with less contamination between colours. I was able to brush the colour off mine on a paper towel and use them again for another colour within the same colour family.
Today's card uses these brand new Blending Brushes as well as stamps from the Dragonfly Garden and the Art Gallery Stamp Set.
Instructions:
- Use a Just Jade card base - A4 cut in half lengthwise and folded.
- Use a piece of Shimmery White cardstock the same length as the card base but slightly narrower on the long side.
- Stamp the floral image from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set onto the Shimmery White card, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Use a Stamparatus to ensure correct placement and keep your stamp there to use again
- Use some Post-It notes to create a section on your Shimmery White card for you to blend your colours.
- Use the blending brushes and blend Misty Moonlight, Just Jade and Bumblebee Classic Stampin' Pad Inks. Play around until you feel you have the right colour mix.
- When you are happy with your blending, carefully remove your Post-It notes and place your card back in the Stamparatus.
- Restamp the floral image again to darken up the image due to fading from the blending.
- Use Just Jade and Daffodil Delight Blends to colour select parts of your floral image.
- Stamp 'I Miss You' from the Art Gallery Stamp set onto your Shimmery White card using Tuxedo Black ink.
- Use Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels to add some interest to your card.
- Attach the Shimmery White card to the Just Jade base with Stampin' Dimensionals.
- Be careful of contaminating your Shimmery White cardstock. Avoid this by either wearing gloves while blending and then taking them off, or using a bit of paper to hold your paper still while blending.
- Start blending off the page to avoid large "blobs" of ink on your card
- Mark your card position when initially stamping your image to keep the same position when you re-stamp the image after blending.
